Solarize St. Thomas Officially Begins

The campaign got off to a great start with a tremendous launch event and great participation! A special thanks goes out to Senator Marvin Blyden and Energy Office Director, Kyle Flemming for helping make this event a great success!

Free evaluations are underway! Representatives from Silver Sun Solar are making appointments now with the 50+ homeowners and business owners that have signed up for an evaluation so far. Whether you’re interested in solar energy, battery storage, and/or other clean energy technologies, you will get a customized evaluation for your specific needs.

Solarize St. Thomas includes a series of town hall and information sessions dedicated to educating St. Thomas residents about the benefits of solar energy and battery storage technologies, how the Solarize St. Thomas program works, tiered pricing schedule, selected materials, and a Q&A session. Share the Sun Affordable Solar Program is one part of the greater Solarize St. Thomas campaign! All Solarize St. Thomas customers will receive discounted rates through our group purchasing program but there are also limited funds available to make solar even more affordable for income-qualified households.

Solarize St. Thomas is a community-based group purchasing program for solar energy, battery storage, and other clean energy technologies that helps homeowners, businesses and nonprofits become more resilient, reduce energy expenses, and save on the cost of renewable energy systems by leveraging the power of group purchasing — the more that participate, the greater the savings!

The organizers of the campaign sought competitive bids from the local solar community to ensure best-in-class materials are installed by qualified solar professionals for the lowest price.

The goal of Solarize St. Thomas is to help lower the cost of solar energy and battery storage installations through the power of bulk-purchasing, educate local residents about available incentives and programs, and make it easy to get a free proposal from a trusted source.

Who We Are

Solarize St. Thomas is a public-private coalition consisting of the Coalition for Solar Affordability including Virgin Islands Energy Office, UVI’s Caribbean Green Technology Center, Rotary Club of St. Thomas East ECO, Environmental Association of St. Thomas-St. John, Virgin Islands Conservation Society, VI Electric Vehicle Assoc.-North, and Solar Crowdsource.

Design and Installation

Following a rigorous evaluation process, the Coalition selected Silver Sun Solar to provide local property owners – both residential and commercial – with solar power equipment, battery storage and energy-saving technologies through a group-purchasing platform supported by community partner organizations collaborating on St. Thomas in the new year.

Silver Sun Solar has been conducting business in the USVI since 2014. They provide grid connected, hybrid, and. off-grid solar electric and battery systems for homes, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. They also provide solar water heating and pool heating systems.

  • Free Solar Evaluations: Solarize St. Thomas includes a free solar evaluation including preliminary site design, energy usage profile, and financial analysis. Get a 25-year outlook of the benefits of solar for your property.
  • Education and Outreach: Several free workshops and events will be held throughout the duration of the campaign to inform the public of the benefits of solar. Participants will meet the contractors, learn about materials, and ask questions.
  • Limited Time Campaign: To generate momentum and motivate procrastinators, Solarize St. Thomas will run for a limited time only. Once the campaign ends, discount pricing goes away.
