ATTENTION CITY OF COVINGTON ELECTRIC UTILITY CUSTOMERS:

Solarize Newton-Morgan together with it’s coalition partner Sustainable Newton are pleased to announce that on Monday, October 21, 2019 your city council voted unanimously to remove punitive “standby” charges for residential customers.

Now Covington customers can use solar energy to become more energy independent, save big on electricity bills, increase property values, and do their part to help the environment without paying a punitive “solar tax” that ruined the economics of going solar. This is such a significant development, Solarize Newton-Morgan is re-opening the campaign for Covington electric utility customers as indicated below.

Enrollment deadline: November 30, 2019
Contract deadline: December 31, 2019

Compared to the old policy, the savings are substantial! Using a 5kW system size as an example, the old policy required solar customers to pay $369 annually before even turning their lights on.

What is Solarize Newton-Morgan?

Solarize Newton-Morgan is a community-based solar photovoltaic bulk-purchasing campaign that makes solar more affordable and accessible for the residents of East Metro Atlanta. Solarize campaigns harness the power of the crowd to save some major green while residences and businesses go green.

The organizers of the campaign will seek competitive bids from the local solar community to ensure best-in-class materials are installed by qualified solar professionals for the lowest price.

What to expect from Solarize Newton-Morgan:

• Savings: Big savings through bulk-purchase of materials, focus on a limited geographic area, and decreasing tiered pricing schedule.
• Vetted Contractor and Materials: Through a competitive bid process, Solarize Newton-Morgan includes the selection of a qualified solar contractor and best-in-class materials so you don’t have to.
• Free Solar Evaluations: Solarize Newton-Morgan includes a free solar evaluation including preliminary site design, energy usage profile, and financial analysis. Get a 25-year outlook of the benefits of solar for your property.
• Education and Outreach: Several free workshops and events will be held throughout the duration of the campaign to inform the public of the benefits of solar. Participants will meet the contractors, learn about materials, and ask questions.
• Limited Time Campaign: To generate momentum and motivate procrastinators, Solarize Newton-Morgan will run for a limited time only. Once the campaign ends, discount pricing goes away.
