Solarize Athens 2.0

Thank you for participating in Solarize Athens. The enrollment period is now closed. The next important date is the contract deadline as follows:

  • Residential participants: Closed April 30, 2020
  • Commercial/Nonprofit participants: May 31, 2020

COVID-19 Important Information

In light of concerns surrounding COVID-19 pandemic and the recent strengthening of the shelter-in-place policy passed by the Mayor and Commission, Solarize Athens wants to keep you as up-to-date possible as it pertains to the campaign contract deadlines and installations.

The safety of Solarize Athens participants and and coalition partners is of paramount concern and social distancing practices are critical to prevent further spread of the virus. At the same time, we understand solar is a serious investment using considerable resources and it’s important to keep you informed as to the status of the campaign and installations. To that end, Solarize Athens in conjunction with the selected contractor, Alternative Energy Southeast (AES), are working diligently to protect our employees, clients, and associates by following guidelines established by the CDC and offer the following policies and procedures as it pertains to contracting and installation services.

Proposals and Contracting – Social Distancing

For now, the contract deadline for residential and commercial participants will remain the same. We will continue to monitor campaign activity and listen to the community for advice on how best to proceed.

For customers considering solar at their home, social distancing practices are important as ever. AES will begin performing virtual site visits and submit proposals electronically. AES has electronic signature capabilities for contracts and checks can be photographed and deposited electronically if necessary. Please ask your solar consultant for more details.

Installation Services – Safety of Employees and Participants

Because solar is considered “construction of housing” and “electricity”, permitting and installations will continue as planned and remain on shedule. AES employees are required to stay home if feeling unwell or if job responsibilities can be performed from home. Although the bulk of installtion work is done outdoors, field technicians are required to keep a safe distance from clients when working on site and to wear nitrite gloves when performing inside work at a home or business. All field crews have access to germicidal foam cleaner and are encouraged to use it as frequently as possible. Company truck interiors and office spaces are cleaned frequently while all employees practice good personal hygiene throughout the day.  AES recognizes this is a stressful time for everyone and wants to ensure clients and associates will continue to maintain operations with as minimum amount of disruption possible.

From all of us at Solarize Athens, we wish that everyone in the ACC community is safe and healthy during this uncertain time. If you have any or concerns, pelase contact us at or (770) 288-0440.

Tiered Pricing Schedule

Residential: Solarize Athens residential pricing starts at 10% below the average installed price in Georgia for similar quality materials (Tier I). With aggregate pricing, we achieved savings of 20%+ (Tier VI)!

Commercial: Commercial installations are very different from residential with commercial systems generally costing less per watt due to the size and scope of these systems. Therefore Solarize Athens has separate residential and commercial pricing to reflect this difference.

Experts from Solarize Athens and Alternative Energy Southeast will help customize a system to suit individual needs. We can help structure your commercial project to maximize returns and demonstrate how Solarize Athens pricing works with federal tax credits, bonus (100%) and MACRS depreciation.

What to expect from Solarize Athens:

  • Savings: Big savings through bulk-purchase of materials, focus on a limited geographic area, and decreasing tiered pricing schedule.
  • Vetted Contractor and Materials: Through a competitive bid process, Solarize Athens includes the selection of qualified solar contractors and best-in-class materials so you don’t have to.
  • Free Solar Evaluations: Solarize Athens includes a free solar evaluation including preliminary site design, energy usage profile, and financial analysis. Get a 25-year outlook of the benefits of solar for your property.
